Musical pornográfico subverteu o Alice no País das Maravilhas de Carroll, trazendo à baila muito sexo explícito com invejável trilha-sonora

Ao ser lançado em 1976, no boom das produções “triple x” que infestavam a antiga Times Square, a versão pornográfica de Alice no País das Maravilhas terminou solenemente ignorada pela “inteligentsia” hollywoodiana, às vésperas da revolução tecno-espetacular de Steven Spielberg e George Lucas. Adaptar o magnífico original de Lewis Carroll para uma versão pornô –e o mais inconcebível- transformar o pretenso pastiche num musical (!) digno de nota, colocou o diretor Bud Townsend na categoria quixotesca dos visionários cineastas de meia-pataca (tome-se como exemplo Ed Wood) mitificados pela ousadia criativa.
Townsend preferiu manter o alicerce da obra, sem mexer num só componente, a não ser prólogo e epílogos modernizados para os anos 1970: a belíssima Kristine DeBell interpreta a menina do conto já bem crescidinha, que sob licença poética atravessa o espelho da sala para penetrar numa dimensão de situações absurdas, topando com as mesmas figuras concebidas no clássico. O grande problema da produção, é a absoluta carência de componentes visuais convincentes, decerto conseqüencia do orçamento apertadíssimo ao qual o realizador precisou se adaptar. Mesmo assim, o filme surpreende pela trilha-sonora de alto nível entregue ao talentoso Bucky Searles, apoiado por uma primorosa coreografia que salva as incursões lúbricas de Alice, da completa ruína mambembe.
Grande trunfo de Townsend é, igualmente, aproveitar da melhor forma possível o cenário disponível –praticamente 90% de externas rodadas num lugar semelhante ao Central Park- onde o cast não se furta a tirar a roupa, protagonizando transas alucinadas as quais a moçoila vai assimilando como lições anunciadas ao estilo dos velhos letreiros do Cinema Mudo. Outra peculiaridade da fita, reside no modo como se evitou deixar o encadeamento das passagens musicais atrelado ao desenvolvimento dos ganchos narrativos: em nenhuma vez, trilha interpõe-se a seqüência que determina evolução do roteiro, falha comum até mesmo em produções consagradas como Cabaret ou West Side Story.
Tampouco termina sacrificada a carga do nonsense carrolliano, muito menos a essência do encontro de alguns dos personagens principais: a Rainha de Copas surge tirânica e provocante, o Rei privilegia a figura do negro, objeto da então recorrente Blaxploitation, enquanto Tweedledum e Tweedledee –fêmea na adaptação- acrescentam incesto na mistura. Com mais sorte, menos “ousadia” e dólares à rodo, Townsend teria deixado sua recriação para a História dos Musicais, quem sabe à altura do Hair de Milos Forman, ao qual Alice é parente no tocante aos números de dança executados “open air” e com admirável respeito ao score pretendido.
O filme virou disputa entre colecionadores no mundo inteiro, ganhando versões acrescidas de cenas cortadas no original. Raríssimo, sequer mereceu simpatia das distribuidoras em VHS.

Atenção!
A câmera de Townsend abusa dos supercloses e enquadramentos exagerados nas seqüências de cópula, evidenciando uma tendência da época para valorizar o explícito.

Chambers plays the rich, happy and assertive fashion model Sandra Chase, whose sexual appetite is-per the title-insatiable. The film begins as it ends, with her masturbating. She has an old-fashioned aunt who appears in a series of flashbacks. The movie has little plot or storyline, and "only the barest minimum of real-world narrative conflict". It consists mainly of one sex scene after another with some filler sequences added to pad the runtime to feature-length movie standards. In the first scene Chambers and another woman perform cunnilingus on each other. Next she gives a delivery boy fellatio. One scene has Chambers's character overhearing her friend having sex, but in all the other "action" scenes Chambers features more directly. The following central scene of the movie, presented as a flashback, depicts Sandra as she is ravished on a pool table by the gardener of her father's estate (played by Richard Pacheco). The incident was Chambers' character's first sexual experience, and may be meant to explain her later sexual behaviour. The scene has been called "uncommonly brutal". Although Chambers says, "No, please stop," the movie makes it clear she is a willing participant, as she tells her friend, "I just loved being held down and made love to by him". In the final scene of the movie, Chambers has sex with a man and a woman, followed immediately by sex with a flaccid John Holmes.As soon as Holmes is finished, Chambers utters her last line of the movie whilst masturbating: "More, more, more."

A very entertaining spoof of Tod Browning's Dracula. I'd recommend this low budget porn film over Paul Morrissey's version. Jamie Gillis does an excellent portrayal of Dracula, giving superb homage to Bela Lugosi, "Children of the night, what music they make". Richard Bulik has Renfield's insane laugh down, "My cries at night, they might disturb Miss Mina." Even the fake flapping bat on a string is perfect. Reggie Nalder plays an excellent Dr. Van Helsing, and the music score, largely classical, is well chosen. Periodically an intercom interjects with odd comments, "Dr. Silver report to room 22 for a lobotomy".

Apparently a few scenes involving urination have been cut, but be prepared for incest scenes between John Leslie and 'sister' Kay Parker, as well as a necrophilia scene with Mike Ranger and the 'undead' Serena. These are all played tongue in cheek, and work well within the context of the film. Seka has a brief, but luminous, appearance. John Holmes, whose acting is limited to his impressive endowment, has two scenes. Annette Haven is lovely as always, Serena is superbly sexy, and John Leslie is the suave lead. Apparently filmed at Scotties Castle in Death Valley. Highly recommended.
